One of the highlights of the Grit City Comic Show 2023 is the chance to meet and interact with some amazing cosplay groups that are dedicated to their fandoms and to charitable causes. Here are some of the cosplay groups that you can expect to see at the convention:

Garrison Titan: 501st Legion

Washington state’s official garrison of the 501st Legion: the world’s definitive Star Wars costuming organization whose members are dedicated to creating and wearing movie-accurate costumes of the Galactic Empire and villains of the Star Wars Universe. When you think of Stormtroopers, Jedi, or even Darth Vader at a hospital or sporting event, that’s us! We partner and cooperate closely with Lucasfilm Ltd. and represent the finest in Star Wars costuming around the globe.

Mando Mercs: Gurreck Clan

This is a group of Star Wars fans who create and wear Mandalorian costumes inspired by the movies, TV shows, comics, and games. They are part of the Mando Mercs Costume Club, which is a worldwide organization that promotes the culture and history of the Mandalorians. The Mando Mercs also raise money and awareness for various charities, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Costumed Characters for Causes

Costumed Characters for Causes at Grit City Comic Show 2023 in Tacoma,WA

This is a group of cosplayers who dress up as favorite characters from pop culture and narrative lore. They use their costumes and props to raise funds and awareness for great charitable organizations that strive to heal sick children, such as the Seattle Children’s Hospital and Camp Good Times West. They also bring joy and smiles to kids and adults alike with their photobooths and events.

They are all volunteers (we call them our “Volunt-heroes”) who are dedicated and talented costumers willing to ply their time, skills, and motivation in a concerted effort to raise awareness and funding that will help children in our community.

405th Infantry Division, Halo Cosplay Group

A group of Halo fans who build and collect costumes and props from the Halo games. They are part of the 405th Infantry Division, which is a maker community and costuming club that celebrates the art and craft of Halo. The 405th Infantry Division also supports various charities and causes, such as Operation Supply Drop and Extra Life.
